V INTERNATIONAL MUSIC AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL

In 2015 the international music and cultural festival will celebrate its jubilee and will take place in Petrozavodsk for the 5th time. This year the festival will have the new name of “Kalevala Music Wheel” (ex. “Kalevala Fest”). The next festival #KalevalaMusicWheel will be held in autumn of 2017.

The Italian “Antonio Flinta Quartet” will open the festival by its concert in the Finnish town of Joensuu on 29th October 2015 and then will continue its performing at the festival on 31st October in the city of Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia.

According to the festival’s tradition there will be concerts in the philharmonic and club formats, jam-sessions, master-classes and afterparties. The programme of the festival will also include the author’s clothes show on the topic of the Kalevala epos made by the studio “Fashion view” of the Petrozavodsk Palace of Creativity of Children and Youth; the ethno theatre performance “Koti” (“House”) in the National theatre of the Republic of Karelia; lectures “Kalevala in Fine Arts”, art master-classes with Margarita Yufa, the exhibition based on the Kalevala epos, watching the video recordings of the theatre performances of Viola Malmi on the topic of the Kalevala epos in the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia; the exhibition of the puppets “In the vastness of Kalevala” in the art gallery of “The Puppet House” named by Tatiana Kalinina in Petrozavodsk; the master-classes “Kalevala plate” on the topic of the Kalevala epos in ceramics and in making ceramic plates at the Children Art School under the direction of I.Mikhailov and A.Belousov, the members of the Union of Russian artists and artists-ceramists; master-classes of traditional Karelian handicrafts and Karelian cuisine, the puppet exhibition “Kalevalantyttilöinsugu” based on the Kalevala epos by the artisan Margarita Kemppainen in the centre “The House of the Karelian language” in the settlement of Vedlozero.
